Indian Summer, Training and Snow

During the last weeks we had a bit of everything. Great Indian Summer days with colored forests and blue sky, rainy days (mushroom started to grow again, but we stopped collecting now) and then the first snow, but it melted away after 2 days.

Hiking is still fun, as there are no more flying insects, not too hot, not too cold, just perfect. But we concentrated more on training part 1 with our dogs. We started on 24th September. All active dogs are running now in those first days distances from 8 - 11 km. The veterans and pre-veteransrun only 3 - 6 km, we take it easy and relaxed with them, they have nothing to prove anymore. All yearlings are running now and do a good or even very good job. Also Linus, who was still unsure during last winter, if beeing sleddog is the right  job for him, is running now in the big teams and doing better all the time.  From all our 140 dogs, there are now 13 completely retired and don't don anything else than enjoying their old days. All others are still motivated to run and get trained according their age and physical possibilities, in teams from 7 - 14 dogs.

Training is now of course the main thing in our days. But there is still time to finish some other projects. Alex and Erik are working now on a new lighting in the lodge, the sled-barn for the new kennels has been finished and all sleds get their service to be ready in time. And last but not least, during the last days, we made 21 m3 of firewood and it is all stored in the barns now.

The next snowy days can arrive!
